On July 13, 2013 at approximately 7:28 A.M. Darke County Deputies, Darke County Coroner’s Office, Darke County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Team, Tri Village Rescue, Hollansburg Fire were dispatched to the 600 block Hollansburg Richmond Road in reference to a motorcycle accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Honda CBR 600 RR driven by Lance G. Powell, 47, of Richmond, Indiana was travelling north bound on Hollansburg Richmond Road in the 600 block. The motorcycle drove off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle struck a wood and metal post. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle landing in a bean field. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed speed and alcohol may be factors of the accident.
Accident remains under investigation
