What is Fisher House: There are two homes located at Wright Patt Air Force Base and are approximately a block from the Wright Patt Medical Center. The Fisher House provides physical and emotional support to our servicemen and servicewomen. They provide an opportunity for military families to stay together and support each other when a loved one is undergoing medical treatment. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $235 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation. The houses depend on generous donations of time and dollars, along with the need to keep the homes supplied. Below are items needed:
- Paper plates and bowls
- Solo type plastic drinking cups and Styrofoam coffee cups
- Paper napkins, paper towels, foil
- Outdoor trash bags, tall kitchen bags, 4 gallon trash bags
- Liquid dishwasher detergent
- Travel size shampoo, etc.
- Individual bottles of water, lemonade or ice tea drink mix
- Candy Bars-snack or regular size
- Individual packaged snack items-pretzels, granola bars, chips, cookies
- Individual packaged soups, spaghettio’s, mac & cheese
- Individual packages of coffee creamer
- Breakfast cereal-large or individual size
- Current DVD’s-appropriate for families
- Gift bags of all sizes
- Light bulbs-40,60 and 75 watt
You may drop off your items on December 7, 2014 from 2-4 pm at the front entrance of the Greenville American Legion, 325 N Ohio St. Volunteers will be there to collect the items and see that the Fisher House receives these generous donations.
