CareFlight Transports Driver After Car Collide with Semi Trailer

Greenville-  On May 8, 2015 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Darke County Deputies, along with New Madison Fire, Liberty Township Fire and Tri-Village rescue were dispatched to the 4200 block of US36 reference a two vehicle injury accident, with entrapment.
 
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Chevy Impala, driven by Rachel Remencus (18) of New Madison, was westbound on US36 and drifted left of center striking the trailer of a 99 Volvo semi, driven by Robert Alderton (51) of Richmond, IN, which was eastbound on US36.  Alderton tried to swerve to miss Remencus, but Remencus' vehicle struck the axle on the semi trailer.  Remencus was trapped in her vehicle and was extricated from the vehicle by New Madison Fire, Liberty Township Fire and Tri-Village Rescue.  Remencus was transported to Miami Valley Hopsital by CareFlight.  Remencus' condition is unknown at the time of this release.  Alderton was treated by Tri-illage Rescue, but refused treatment.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.  Possible cause of the accident may have been associated with the driver falling asleep.
