Ansonia FFA helps hurdle hogs

The above picture shows those who volunteered to help out at the event. Front row, left to right: Ethan Fischer, Katelyn McKenna, Amber Bergman, Olivia Wright, and Aleesha Gates. Back row, left to right: Mark Mayo, Ross Dapore, and Isaac Oswalt.
On Wednesday, July 27th, the Ansonia FFA traveled to the Shelby County Fair to help run the gilt and barrow hog show. Members had loads of fun while assisting the showmen in penning their hogs and keeping them from being trapped in the many corners of the show ring. They used a plastic red board, called a hurdle, to push the pigs and make them cooperate while being judged in the ring. This is an annual event for the kids in the Ansonia FFA to volunteer in opportunities outside of their own county fair. On the way home, the tired FFA members were rewarded with a stop at Taco Bell!
