GREENVILLE – Get ready for the largest fireworks display in Darke County!
It’s the Greenville Eagles 4th Annual Independence Day Celebration Fireworks, and this year it will be a day-long event. It starts at Noon on July 5 (Sunday) at Eagle Park on Shade Road, and wraps up with the fireworks display, starting at dusk. Admission is free to the public.
Celebrants will be able to buy Chicken Bar-B-Q, hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and beer. There will be train rides, clowns and other free events for the kids. Coolers and other carry-ins will not be allowed.
Entertainment will be provided by Katherine Karaoke, Clark Station and Classified.
The Greenville Eagles has been funding this event for the community since 2006 as part of its commitment to community service.
The Eagles and Ladies Auxiliary is a private fraternal organization; and its membership has been growing in recent years. The Lodge has had a tremendous impact on the community with its support for organizations and individuals, including Shriners, the Annie Oakley Festival, girl scouts, boy scouts, scholarships and more.
For those interested membership applications will be taken. First responders and military veterans who have never been Eagles members can qualify for a free first year membership. Members must be 21.
Eagle Park is located at 6236 Shade Road, three miles west of Greenville off of SR 502. Turn left on Shade Road; the entrance is less than ¼ mile on the right.
Additional parking and a free shuttle service will be available at The Triangle on SR 502.
For more information, call 548-7785.

[Since there was a little bit of a controversy here, comments are reopened. Also, "canceled" can be spelled with one "l" or two!]
Who was the idiot who hired the un-licensed fireworks company? Was it the Eagles?
ReplyDeleteSo, another failure that can be associated with Bob Robinson? While that may not be the case, he is (according to the Advocate) the Eagles secretary and one of the folks behind this "fireworks extravaganza." Pinning it on him somehow is just too convenient! First the Advocate tanks with him there, now the Fireworks go up in smoke (or don't go up in smoke, depending on how you want to look at it).
ReplyDeleteAll joking aside (although it was fun to make the correlation), it is sad that there will be no fireworks in Greenville this year. Hopefully next year will result in a fireworks show to top all previous shows in Darke County.
I'm thinking that the secretary wouldn't have anything to do with hiring the fireworks guy. Also, if the fireworks guy is a criminal, then he probably lied about his credentials and licensing anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs to the Darke Journal's post, I would guess that is why the poster stated "all joking aside." Pinning it on Robinson was a joke.
