John Boehner visits Greenville for State of the Nation luncheon

The Darke County Chamber of Commerce today welcomed House minority leader John Boehner to the Greenville Country Club for the annual State of the Nation luncheon and legislative update. Boehner spoke at length about cap & trade, calling it "bizarre" among several other adjectives. Boehner said cap & trade would be devastating to all business, but especially agriculture. Boehner further described the current legislative proposals (cap & trade - and national healthcare) as a battle for our freedom.

On a local note, Boehner encouraged Darke Countians to keep asking questions about the co2 sequestration proposal, and that it was premature for funds to be allocated to an idea which hasn't yet been proven safe or unsafe. These remarks were met with applause.

  1. It's great to see Congressman Boehner come to our city. I wish I could have been there. It's good to know he doesn't think the co2 "project" should be done right now, before they even know if it is safe. What an honor to have him here. As long as he is in Congress, I know we have someone fighting for the American people and more importantly , he is fighting for us. My thanks go out to John Boehner and the GOP.

  2. If Mr. Boehner truly does not agree with cap & trade, he could prove it by helping to stop the sequestration "experiment" here in Greenville. The ugly truth is, both parties have and will impose c&t, and for any high-ranking politician to imply opposition is totally disingenuous.
