Confirmed fatal accident late Saturday evening on Martin Street in Greenville involving a scooter and small pick-up truck. More details as they develop.
Update: We have information on the name of the deceased but will wait for official verification. WHIO has a few more details here.
Update 2: The deceased is James Hendrix, 47, of Greenville.
it was a fatal accident... very sad.. my heart goes out to the family.
ReplyDeleteI had to detour the scene on Sat. night after 10:00 PM. The deceased was still in the street (covered) and surrounded by a fleet of police and sheriff's cars, tape, and a large crowd of spectators. A spectator told me the name of the victim. With still no news about the identity of the pickup driver, you wonder if he is important enough that it will take until Mon. or Tues. for a rug of sufficient size to be delivered from Georgia in order to sweep this under.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or is it becomming the trend in darke county to not give out any information about any accidents. The Advocate is very bad at giving a "teaser" story but never following it up with the facts reguarding the story. The news reports used to believe in the 4 w's, who, what, when and where.
ReplyDeleteI think it's odd that they haven't released more information, like names. But that's Darke co. for you. Either way, it's tragic. My condolences to this mans family and friends.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that comes from the coroners office, they like to keep things under investigation.
ReplyDeleteThe fatal scooter/truck accident victim's name is James Hendrix,47 of Greenville as per whiotv.com website.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with his family. What a tragic accident.
ReplyDeletemy heart and prayers go out to Mr. Hendrixs friends and family. My heart and prayers also go out to the Person who was driving the pickup truck. God Bless

ReplyDeleteThey are not sweeping anything under the rug. During investigations its normal not to release names until they get all the facts.
they have released the name of the driver.. its either on whiotv.com or our lovely newspaper's website.. but they have released because i have seen the name!!!
ReplyDeleteThis was taken from the Advocate's Website artical... "According to the police report, the vehicles involved were a truck driven by Loren R. Shaffer, 62, and a motorized scooter driven by James Hendrix, 47, both from Greenville. Hendrix sustained fatal injuries and died on the scene."
