FF King is a good man & was a good FF. This is what's wrong w/ this city..soooo much negative. There have been worse issues on "other" people & they slid thru the system. FF King stepped up to the plate as a man for his actions & no one to back him..sad...makes you think if he went into a blazing inferno, would his back been covered then? Will the GFD give him a good reference for another job? Best of luck Michael King!
I agree with the last comment (10:47). I don't know Mr. King, but through his actions he brought a lot of negative attention to his department and fellow firefighters. We still don't know what happened exactly at the hospital, but King did the right thing by resigning and taking the controversy away from his colleagues.
Mr. King is no longer a public official, and by giving up his job, he should now be allowed to proceed in peace through the legal system. Hopefully, he can address whatever problems he has.
As a public employee you are held to a higher standard. Look at all the posts from when this artical first came out, about how GFD where all out of control. Do you blame anyone for seperating themselves from this situation?? I do believe Mike King was a great FF but when something like this happens everyone suffers. I live in Celina and from Greenville. It seems to me there are people out there who don't like GFD, for whatever reason, that are just waiting for something to happen bad to give them a hard time. I really havn't read anything on here about any good GFD has done????
And it STILL continues! A man is sentenced to jail time, a fine, driving restrictions, community service hours, and a few years probation and yet it's still seen as "getting away with it" or "going unpunished" or "swept under the rug" or "special treatment".
If it were up to the citizens of Darke County I think anyone who ever committed a crime would be sentenced to life in prison--and citizens still wouldn't be happy!
These cases are completely unrelated. Mr. King resigned before the internal investigation at GFD was complete. A criminal action is still pending. Since no action has occured yet this incident cannot be compared to a case that is closed.
Maybe Mr. King Thought that this would be as good as time as any, to bail to get out from under all the disliked administration. Good luck Mike in the future.
Very respectful thing to do, for the department, firefighters, and City of Greenville
ReplyDeleteSad to see a career end over one drunken mistake, I know Mike and he is not a bad guy and he is a good firefighter.
ReplyDeleteVERY SAD. he is a GREAT man!!!
ReplyDeleteshame on gfd for trying to help and save a career. They only made one perfect man and they crucified him.
ReplyDeleteToo bad for him, especailly so close to Christmas. But, it was the right thing to do. Maybe he's learned something.

ReplyDeleteIf he worked for the Sheriff's office he would have had no problem. Remember the 911 official incident.
ReplyDeleteThat would side with **Dec.24-10:47AM**
ReplyDeleteI'm with you too, Dec.24-10:47 a.m. Especially the "others" sliding thru the system. Hang in there Mike. Good luck!
