I post on here enough... those who know me are aware that I am all for Darke Co. and I support every local business that I can. That being said, I went to BTO...once. I will not be going back. The product was good, but paying nearly $5 for a small yogurt with 1 topping was just too much. From what I hear around town, I'm not the only one with that opinion. Another example-my neighbor took her 3 kids, got 3 small yogurts and the price was over $16! I'm just wondering how they can really compete when you can go to McD's or Wendys for half that price, or get a 1/2 gallon of frozen something-or-other at Kroger for around $4 Any thoughts out there about their pricing?
Hi DJ - I didn't say that I didn't like it - very nice place, friendly, clean, nice alternative, etc. But when compared to other places around town that serve something camparable, it is on the high side for what you get. I do hope that they succeed - Darke Co. doesn't need another place going belly up. On the other hand, people aren't dumb. They might really like someplace, but don't frequent it enough to keep it going. I think my neighbor is a good example of that. She liked BTO very much, but she can take her kids to Wendys for frostys for much less $$. Everyone keeps yapping about such "tough" economic times... how is BTO going to keep up?
I see what both of you are saying - it is a nice place and cool treat, but it is also a little bit on the pricey side. I took my son there this past summer - I got a medium with 2 toppings, he got a small with 1 topping and I think it was around $8/$9. I remember being surprised with the total because when we went in, the clerk made .39 an ounce sound so "cheap" Just a bit much for glorified ice cream in my book. I sure hope that they make it, but like Race, I'm wondering how.
I agree with you guys. I took my two children there in the summer. For 3 smalls with a few toppings, it was 18 almost 19 dollars. DJ, I think you will be in the few who don't mind paying that much. I will say, it was very good. I did enjoy it very much, but I will not go back because of the price. For what i spent, i could of when to the store and got enough stuff for a week of treats. Hopefully they can find a way to reduce their prices.
Just a side note when talking this area and food... we went to that new steak place over in Troy a few weeks ago, Kents. Very nice-atmosphere-good food..... $62.00 + tip for two people. What did we have? A small beer each, a cup of french onion soup each, a kobe burger and burger sliders. No entrees! Great place, but I don't believe that it will survive in this area. Places like that make it down in the Miamisburg area, but not in places like Troy, Piqua, Greenville, etc. BTO may be the same. Very good, fun, but too expensive for the everyday folks in the area.
Wow, I made the same comments a few months ago and was crusified for making my comments on the price. I'm glad to read that people really do agree with me!
I don't think that you are alone, 1:55pm. I believe that the general concensus here is that we all like BTO - we just find it a bit too pricey to frequent on a regular basis.

I personally like BTO and don't have any problem with the price. It's a treat, fun place to hang out with the kids.
