CHILD CRITICALLY INJURED IN TRAFFIC CRASH

On January 4, 2010 at approximately 9:01 AM the Darke County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a car into a tree with multiple injuries including a child that was unconscious. Union City Fire and Rescue, Greenville Rescue and Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1700 block of State Route 571 near Union City, Ohio. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1996 Mercury Sable driven by Jo Ann Lambdin, age 56 of Union City, Ohio was traveling eastbound on State Route 571 when she lost control of the vehicle on a slight curve and drove off of the left side of the roadway and crashed into a tree. Three juveniles were also in the vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle were transported by EMS to Wayne Hospital in Greenville, Ohio. One child was transferred to Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio via Careflight and was last known to be in critical condition. This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Some roads in Darke County have become hazardous as a result of the early morning snow fall and frigid temperatures; as a result Darke County Sheriff’s Office has handled several traffic crashes, including this one in which weather has not been ruled out as a contributing factor to this serious crash.

  5. There were comments made the day it happened that have since been removed. Thankfully! And I'm not going to say what they were, because that would just start the rumours all over again...
