September is Darke County Preparedness Month

On Wednesday September 9, 2010, Darke County Commissioners signed a proclamation declaring September as Darke County Preparedness Month.

The County Commissioners along with the Darke County Emergency Management and the Darke County Chapter of the American Red Cross would like to take this opportunity to urge citizens and businesses to take action to prepare for a disaster or emergency.

Ready.gov provides simple and practical steps that everyone can take to be better prepared including: Prepare a Family Emergency Plan; Create an Emergency Supply Kit; Be Informed; Get Involved in Community Preparedness Efforts.

Locally, the Darke County Emergency Management and Chapter of the American Red Cross offer various types of education including: printed material; volunteer opportunities; training and will visit your group, club, organization, business to speak on preparedness issues.
