According to an article at Cincinnati.com, a plan is being considered by the state to close many of its Driver Examination stations, including the one in Greenville. The plan is simply a proposal at this point, but it looks like it's entirely possible that in the future, the nearest BMV location to offer driver's exams to Darke County residents could be in Troy or Eaton. Note that this does not affect the other services offered at Greenville's location. It would continue offering vehicle registrations, titles and license reinstatements, etc.

thank you Governor for looking out for us!
ReplyDeleteNothing is handled on a local level any more. This is why our country is spiraling into a dismal abyss. Our food is outsourced, the running of our government is outsourced, everything is outsourced...
ReplyDeleteIts time we take back our lives and take back control of our future. We are undertaking a wholesale slaughter of the American working person. Take back these jobs from the automated systems that handle them and give them to some G.D. people I say...
Its not the waste of everyday operations like this which create the bubbles in our economy, its the wasteful spending in other areas that need looked at.
Is this another one of John Kasich's Brilliant ideas? I further assert, Kasich is a Boob!
Having to drive to Troy for a driver's license exam? Oh the horror!
ReplyDeleteSo your drivers license test (which you probably will only take once in your life) is a little bit of an inconvenience. But on the other hand, our state's economic outlook has improved from negative to stable ... http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/editorials/stories/2011/07/22/credit-for-good-behavior.html?sid=101
i agree with the first commenter - thanks!
I am a proud Democrat and initially, I did not like Kasich, but he has shown that he will cut wasteful spending No Matter What. I have to say, I am becoming a fan. He is not doing this just to get re-elected, he is making cuts where ever possible. God Speed Gov. Kasich.
ReplyDeleteThese services get corralled and reduced down so that we suddenly have the bulk of everything under one roof. What eventually results is a quagmire of inefficiency that not only takes more resources to sort out, it also causes hiccups in other areas of our lives which further degrade our system. It has very little to do with what is currently merely an inconvenience and is a harbinger of what is to come.
ReplyDeleteI assert again, today's politician is a byproduct of the immediate nature of our society. Everything has to be "right now"...cut, cut, cut...with no mind to long term solutions. We are not merely plagued by over spending...we are plagued by POOR PLANNING in general.
I have to say this is at least one cut that makes sense. I'm for it.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they still have the examinations in Greenville one day a week? I know times are tough and things need to be cut. I regret this has to be one of them, but life will go on!
ReplyDeleteSo you cut out this spending from the budget. Where are you going to offset the displaced workers you create? I see no solution being offered in that regard. So when you place these workers on unemployment, you are essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul. The money you just supposedly saved in the cuts goes right out the window in unemployment funds and other devices to support these displaced workers while they find new work. How does this make sense? Looking at the cuts alone is only looking at the short term side if the coin.
ReplyDeleteGreat decision. Now let's hope the fed govt shuts down a bunch of these very small town post offices which really are not cost effective. Mail delivery ought to go to 4 days a week. There are other shipping services people could use if they need anything delivered which may be delayed by this. The post office is losing money, time to make some changes.
ReplyDeleteI just found this. It appears that they are going to shut down many post offices, not enough but many. Here is a list. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111903999904576470412871125674.html?mod=ITP_pageone_1
ReplyDeleteThe post office is quickly becoming a relic. I am sure there is some seasoned citizen who will down vote this, but the facts do not lie. The post office is a black hole that loses tax payer money. Digital communications, and the numerous expediting services have all but made the post office obsolete to all except those set in their ways or scared of technology.
ReplyDeleteSome people preferred horse and buggy to automobiles, but the rest of the world moved on, as should the country with this.
Where is all the money from the tremendous fee increases going?
