  1. We have to cut spending. That is the easiest way to put it. The militarism that this country is involved in takes up the most of the budget each year. Our warring not only makes more enemies, it also drains the funding for important domestic needs. We also have an infrastructure that has been crumbling for a while now; as many gas pipes and bridges are pushing 80-100 years old. We need to cut back on our empire spending abroad, especially in the Middle East. Let those people kill each other. It's what they are good at doing. Cut all foreign aid, and bring the troops home. This action would be a first step of many to correct the budgetary issues. Work on the unfair trade agreements afterwards.

  2. Where did the 800 billion that was meant for infrastructure go from the earlier stimulus?

  3. I would say... Make the spending cuts immediate like the increase. Otherwise, what's the good? They can vote down cuts in the future and there will be no cuts. That's part of the reason we are where we are now.

  4. Please educate yourselves. Two days ago I heard for the first time that the American Goverment uses base line budgeting. I have never heard of this before. In a snap shot what it means is that every year the goverment proposes an increase in dept. budgets of 3-10%. So even if they cut spending 1 trillion dollars they will still get that increase. That negates any of the cuts both parties are advocating. We need a spending freeze. Even a balanced budget will not work because they still get the funding increase every year. I wish I could increase my budget that percentage every year.

  5. Baseline budgeting should be eliminated from all Federal budgets.
