In efforts to better meet the needs of the community, Edison Community College Administrators and Board of Trustee members recently engaged in a “Linking and Learning Series” meeting with The Brethren Retirement Community (BRC). The meeting was held on-site at BRC in Greenville, Ohio, on January 22, 2014.
The Linking and Learning Series features Edison’s Administrators and Board of Trustees conducting a monthly board meeting on the site of a local partner and engaging in specific dialogue about how the College can best fill local workforce and industry needs.
BRC Chief Executive Officer and President, John Warner, facilitated the meeting. Edison Administrators and Board of Trustees members were provided lunch and given an overview of the BRC’s history from Mr. Warner.
Upon completing a brief tour of the facility, members from the BRC’s Executive Team joined the meeting in which they then engaged in a question and answer session. Questions, provided to the team in advance, focused on the current needs of the retirement community in terms of hiring new employees and how Edison students could potentially help to fill these needs.
“We appreciated the opportunity to share with the Edison Board and Administration information about BRC, our history, our services and our needs as they relate to education and employment,” said John Warner, BRC President and CEO. “BRC currently provides clinical learning opportunities to RN students at Edison as well as students in the Physical Therapy Assistant program. We were grateful for the Board and Administration’s interest in how Edison might be able to assist BRC in finding high quality employees.”
Those in attendance from BRC’s Executive Team included, John Warner, President and Chief Executive Officer; Janet Julian, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Kara Hanes, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer; and Dena Wulber, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
“We consider Edison Community College to be an asset in our community,” added Warner. “Edison provides quality educational experiences for students who are seeking degrees at Edison or who may be looking to further their education at a four year university.”
