Darke County Parks invites everyone to visit their log house on Saturday, January 7th from 9am to 11am or 1pm to 3pm. The Wilcox family has graciously extended their hospitality and the use of their opulent log home to a group of long hunters traveling through the Ohio territory during these bitter months. They will have a roof over their heads and a warm fire to rest by at Shawnee Prairie Preserve. Come visit with the Greenville Muzzleloaders and friends to learn about the long hunter and frontier way of life of 200 years ago.
For more information about this or any other program offered by the Darke County Park District, please call the Nature Center at (937) 548-0165.

An experienced long hunter could stay toasty warm on a cold winter night with nothing more than a fire, a wool blanket or two, and piece of canvas for a three sided tent. |
