The story about Taco Bell moving (see below) has people speculating which restaurant could move into the empty building - although another commenter seems to think the current building is destined for the wrecking ball.
So anyway ... commenters have already mentioned three restaurant chains they'd like to see come to Greenville: Skyline Chili, Panera Bread, and Fazoli's.
So consider this an open discussion - and add your favorite restaurant in the comments.
I'll add a second vote for Skyline.

ReplyDeleteI think we all have to keep in mind the size of the Taco Bell building and the parking situation. You really can't put anything other than fast food in the location. Fazoli's would probably even be a stretch.
ReplyDeleteThis town desperately needs a hOOters!
ReplyDeleteDon't we have enough fast food? However, I would take a Chipotle.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not in need of a Hooters, but a Frickers, BW3's or SOMEPLACE that stays open late and serves hot wings would be phenomenal. Hooters fits the bill, but I don't think Greenville fits the specifications for their corporate headquarters to locate here.
ReplyDeleteTaco Bell will NOT sell their building to Chipotle. That's competition. Competition that tastes better!
ReplyDeleteI heard that Bob Evans is possibily interested in expanding. They are looking at the property.
ReplyDeleteTexas Roadhouse!!! YUM! But my husband would say Waffle House. ICK.
ReplyDeleteI heard that Bob Evans bought the properties across the street for a new location.
ReplyDeleteI heard that too, that Bob Evans is moving across the street. They certainly can use a bigger building. They are busy all the time!
ReplyDeleteHow about Steak & Shake?
ReplyDeleteThe building could definitely be a Waffle House, in terms of size, but it wouldn't fit with the Waffle House usually locating right on major highway exits.
ReplyDeleteBob Evans is already a done deal.
ReplyDeleteSkyline would work as a small location there. I know in the past they were interested as recent as 2004 or 2005.
i vote for an olive garden but not where taco bell is now but somewhere else
ReplyDeleteLots of great suggestions, but I doubt you'll see most of them. It's a small building with limited parking, making it unsuitable for most chains.
ReplyDeleteAlso, most chains are franchises, so headquarters doesn't simply "open up" a new place. Someone has to have the capital to purchase property, obtain a franchise agreement which can be difficult, pay expensive franchise fees, build/remodel to suit, install furnishings and equipment, etc. etc.
Given the current conditions in Darke County it may be a while before someone comes along interested in making such an investment. I think there is a greater chance of a non-restaurant business being interested in the location.
I think a Tim Hortons would fit perfectly in the size of building and location
ReplyDeleteIf it wasnt for the size I am all for a ROOSTERS or FRICKERS!!
ReplyDeleteBuffalo Wild Wings... something no so fast food... think how packed it would be after some of the sporting events around town
ReplyDeleteWe need a frickers or a bdubs in town. It'd be busy, busy, busy!!!!
ReplyDeleteBased on the enthusiasm and number of comments to this article, I'm not surprised that in the USA Ohioians are ranked 10th in obesity.
ReplyDeleteA Cracker Barrel would be very welcome in Greenville; not more fast food!!
ReplyDeletethe old taco bell local could be a rally s they just need limited space its mostly drive through, I love their fries.
ReplyDeleteWhy does it have to be a restaurant at all? Cant we get something different in Greenville?
